Who can try out?

Auditions are open to all students entering grades 9-12, for the 2021-2022 school year at Heights HS.

Students who will be entering the 7th and 8th grade at Hogg MS or Hamilton MS, for the 2021-2022 school year, are also welcome to audition and participate with us this school year.

If you complete the online application and attend all three clinics, you are welcome to audition. If you choose to submit a video audition, you are expected to attend two of the clinics minimum.

What to wear?

You will want to wear solid color, preferably black, dance or workout/athletic clothing. As long as it is comfortable to move in and school appropriate you are fine. An example would be leggings or yoga pants with a comfortably fit t-shirt. The most important thing is that you are comfortable to stretch and move. Athletic shoes are highly encouraged, as you will be moving around. Flats, platforms, 'slide' sandals, skate and any other type of fashion shoe is not recommended. If it is all you have, please be prepared to work out in comfortable socks (we will be indoors). FACE MASKS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES. If you need to step away for a breather, you will be welcomed to do so.

Hair & Makeup?

For clinics and auditions, you will want to have your hair pulled back and out of your face at all times. You are not expected to wear a specific type of makeup. You may choose to apply face makeup or not. Earrings, bracelets, rings, and necklaces are highly discouraged for safety reasons with our flags. Watches are permitted, but if they become damaged during the learning and manipulation of flag items we are not responsible.

What to expect

After you complete and submit your online registration, you would attend three clinics and your audition. By attending all clinics, you will be taught everything you need to know for the performance on Thursday. During this time you will definitely want to have a positive attitude, an open mind, be willing to try new things, and push your own limits.

This is where you will begin finding the joy that will help you through it.

During the clinics, we will teach you a short dance combination and a small flag phrase. The dance and flag phrase that you learn will be performed on Thursday. It is very important for you to attend ALL clinics to be prepared for your small performance. Next year's team members will be announced via email and social media the following day.
