Heights HS Band Hall

Bring a friend and come learn something new!

Who can try out?

Auditions are open to all students entering grades 9-12, for the 2022-2023 school year at Heights HS.

What to wear?

You will want to wear solid color, preferably black, dance or workout/athletic clothing. As long as it is comfortable to move in and school appropriate you are fine. An example would be leggings or yoga pants with a comfortably fit t-shirt. The most important thing is that you are comfortable to stretch and move. Athletic shoes are highly encouraged, as you will be moving around. Flats, platforms, 'slide' sandals, skate and any other type of fashion shoe is not recommended. If it is all you have, please be prepared to work out in comfortable socks (we will be indoors).

FACE MASKS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES. If you need to step away for a breather, you will be welcomed to do so.

Hair & Makeup?

For clinics and auditions, you will want to have your hair pulled back and out of your face at all times. You are not expected to wear a specific type of makeup. You may choose to apply face makeup or not. Earrings, bracelets, rings, and necklaces are highly discouraged for safety reasons with our flags. Watches are permitted, but if they become damaged during the learning and manipulation of flag items we are not responsible.

What to expect

After you complete and submit your online registration, you would attend the tryout. The tryout is two days, with the first day being an introduction and the second day being your demonstration of skills learned.

Show up after school for tryouts, dress comfortable, and learn a few things about our team. We will teach you almost everything you will need to know for color guard.

After your audition you will receive an email regarding your placement.

If you have any questions at all about auditioning for the Heights Visual Ensemble, please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Caballero at matthew.caballero@houstonisd.org
